hi
WScott,

You are the 1st person on here i have read that has the same feeling as me about the HD air shocks vs 944,s.
I have had the 944,s now for 6 months and don't think they are as good as stock (i have tried all the settings).
I am going to go back to stock shocks but was thinking of adding the thicker oil.
I think that will give me what i need as like you i came from a sports bike background.
These HD,s handle pretty good for their weight but i felt better on stock air shocks in bends (1 and 2 up).
Have you tried the thicker oil upgrade ?

I have the 944's and am very happy with them. Very easy to adjust preload to change from 1 up to 2 up (I give mine 1.5 turns). Std spring and have not once bottomed out with these and happened often with the stockers. Wife likes them a lot better!!(no more groaning after large bump/hole)

What springs are you guys running on your 940's (light or heavy)? I have both sets and pretty much run the light springs 90% of the time and they're X1000 better than HD's cr@p air stockers (IMO). The trick is to get them dialed-in which takes time/patience/testing and re-testing.

OP; For $350, that's a great deal...just check the springs to see which are on this set.

All.
So as not to hijack this thread i have started one just for 944 settings.
If you have any settings data i would appreciate it.

Thank you.

I installed 944 in the back and Progressive Cartridge Kit up front for a 13 RGU. I love them and it was worth the labor (front was bit of a PIA due to amount of stuff that had to come off).

Handling was so much improved and much more confidence in the corners. The difference in feel and performance made really ask myself if Harley-Davidson really wants to be a premium brand, they really should provide a premium product of all aspects straight out of the box, especially when asking for over $20K for a product....but that's just my opinion.

If all you do is ride in a straight line on smooth roads, stock is fine....but if you turn and deal with various road conditions like most of us....suspension upgrade is worth it.

I put a set of 12.5". Progressive 444 on street glide and great ride now. Ohlins were quite a bit more than 450 I paid for these. I had the 430 in 13" on my roadking and was happy. The 444 are the same technology as 944 without the idea of being shorter when parked.

But with the standard forks thinking the progressive or pro action would balance just fine.

I've decided to wait and get Ohlins. If you want the progressives, call Dodge City HD in Dodge City, Ks.

If so, how do you like them?
I have Progressive shocks (944) and really like them a lot. Once I had them adjusted right, and put the heavy fork oil in the front there was a noticeable difference for sure.

I say go for it, you won't be disappointed. For the price you cannot beat it.

I had 940's on an 08 SG. The came with heavy duty springs and they sucked, stiff as could be. I talked to the guys at the Progressive tent in Sturgis and they swapped out the HD springs for standard springs and it was night and day difference. Even two up we loved those shocks. I've got a 15 now with Harley's Premium shocks and I do like them as well as the 940's that were on the SG.
