Default ohlins shocks,

UPDATE - ok so i just bought some ohlins from Howard today and i thought i'd pass along some info. if your wanting to get some and just havent done it yet i would and do it. as of feb 1 2015 they will be going up 5% in price. i will be posting pics of my before and after. howard talked me into the #3-#3 instead of the #3-#1 or #3-#2. the #3-#1 & #3-#2 sit about 11 1/4 and the #3-#3 sit about 11 3/4 both when sitting on bike. dont quote me but talk to him and he will tell you all about it. hopefully i'll have them next week and post some pics then

Update #1 - 1st 500 miles.

1up review - got the sag set up for 1up. they measure 12" eye to eye. i am as flat footed as i was with the progressive 412's 11.5". didnt have to adjust the dampening as it was set up pretty good already. these shocks are awesome. i rode over bumps that usually almost throw ya up out of the seat and with these ohlins, nothing! you can feel it of course but barely noticeable.
2up review - got the sag set up for 2up. it was 3 full turns for a good ride with more cushyness. 4 full turns for a good solid ride. didnt adjust the dampening as it didnt feel like it needed it. it was just like riding 1up when hitting the bumps. handles great. anyone thats hit a bump in a curve knows how that can make things get squirrely real quick. well i went through some and it didnt have the squirelyness.
so yes i would highly recommend these shocks. i wish i wouldve bought them sooner. and for those worried about flat footing i would still recommend the #3-#3's. they are not as short as the #3-#1's but pretty close and the #3-#3's have a lot more travel. if your going to spend the money get the best ride possible

Try the #2 series Ohlins s36e, if you can park your ego, they are outstanding shocks for about $600 ish and unless your name is Roberts, Rainey, Mamola, Swantz, or Lawson they are probably more shock than you will ever need.

#3-3 shocks here - about five years old now and truly marvellous. #2 Ohlins are emulsion shocks (the oil and gas inside mix together), #3 are separated (oil and gas kept apart), then the top shelf shocks are #6 with remote reservoirs (also separated). We deserve far better shocks than come stock. #2 are probably fine for solo use, #3 certainly suit Mrs B and I, when we are loaded to the gunnels on tour.

I would love to try some good shocks. One of these days I'll save enough dough for them. ;-)

Don't put it off for too long - think of all the improved comfort and handling you could enjoy......

How are they for felt rebound? Wife has a bad back and I'm looking for something that will take the jarring affect out of the ride.
