Went to start up bike after we had lunch, started right up, but twist the throttle and nothing happens. So I turn it off, restart and all is well. About 10 miles down the road and I lose throttle, but bike is still idling.
Yessir your bike did indeed go into limp mode. The description of what your bike did is called Limp Mode.
the bike never went into limp mode and they checked out everything else that has been mentioned
that is what you described. Limp Mode is a "safety" feature of the bike. Bike will idle, but will have limited throttle response - will allow you to "Limp" out of harm's way.

call it what you want, I had no throttle. It just went to idle, with the "check engine" lite on
It's not what we call it, it's what HD calls it.
If that is the case, (engine light on) it would have thrown a trouble code. You can pull those yourself or the dealer can. That's the absolute first thing to check. You asked for suggestions, How about posting year/model?

Did the dealer pull the throttle side grip off and check the TBW assembly? Those little plastic blocks that fit in the notches of your handlebar end can fatigue and you will get intermittent throttle. Mine snapped off but remained caught in the notch which allowed the throttle to work fine and then drop the bike into limp mode and throw codes. Easy to check and worth a look if they already haven't.
Thanks for the advise but I'm taking it into the shop today. Who knows what the problem is. And if I do what you guys have said, how am I to know the problem is fixed without taking it for a test ride?

What you want to do when posting a question about a problem with your bike is ABSOLUTELY under NO CIRCUMSTANCES give ANY details about the make, model, or year of your bike.
the tps has been a problem on 09 and above -- first thing, is to check the tightness of each pin, they need to be tight, if not, replace with a new pin. If the problem still persists, you need a new tps, they have done production change like 5 times to fix the problem. (this is evidenced by an updated part number)
this may be a new Harley problem, but its been around in the auto industry for over 25 years, I remember fixing several Mazdas with loose pin connectors going to the computer .
