Default Preventative IPB replacement?

My 09 SG w/ ~22k miles is now at a dealer getting a new output shaft bearing, plus. Tech says the IPB is OK. Given that the primary is all apart, should I have a new IPB installed even if the tech says it's fine? (They are installing a previously-purchased SE comp that I planned install.)

Also, has the original IPB on 09s been upgraded?

Thanks

It's not a bad idea in my opinion and I'd think with the inner primary off it should be less than $50 if they don't charge much to press it? Mine went around 25k and there's an opinion it's a fairly common failure before 30k.

Do you mean the IPB = Inner Primary Bearing?

Yes, just noticed. Crap; makes researching the topic difficult. I don't see that I have authorization to correct the original title. Apologies.

Bearing and race while you are in there if it gives you peace of mind. They don't all fail.

This!

Baker makes them for 85-07, but not for the later models.

I would replace it cheap insurance and it's not that expensive compare to the labor cost in the future.

Do it, and ask them to use the new black inner primary gasket too!

Just had mine apart at just under 38k to do main drive gear bearing. Ipb was fine but did it anhways while it was open. No sense not to. Did an SE comp as well. Do it once and be done.

replace every bearing, gasket and seal you can get your hands on while it's apart. it'll save you time and money later on
