I went from Wide Glide to a Road King, loved both bikes, but I do prefer the Kind over the Dyna. I do take longer trips when time permits and the comfort level is night and day. And as stated, if you need to make some in town errands, the saddle bags come in handy.

Road king is 110 lbs heavier. Fatbob lean angle is 30/31. Road king lean angle is 33/31. So while your fatbob is lighter it can't actually handle any better because the lean angle is the limiting factor. As much as I like Fatbobs (and I reallly do like them) the extra comfort and storage of the king makes it a winner.

I've had my '07 King since 09, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have changed quite a bit of stuff from stock, on my third seat, the best mods were going to apes, and ditching the stock head pipes.

Bars are 13" 1-1/4 with 3" risers, and pipes are S&S power tune duals. The pipes send the rear under the frame like the '09's, and are a lot cooler and more power over stock.

Long live the King!

I had an 08 Fat bob purchased new and in 2010 I won a 2010 Road King with leather bags in a lottery . I rode it home from the dealer about 17 miles. It felt like I was sitting on top of a 55 gallon barrel. I was convinced that the touring bike was not for me. In 2012 I rented a Street glide for a 1000 mile long weekend 2-up. I ended up trading for a 2013 Ultra Limited. Great bike but the FXDF will always have a special place in my heart. Great handling bike. I would strongly suggest renting a bike before you buy, a short test ride is not enough. It costs a little to do it but buying the wrong bike is also expensive.

Default Congrats!

You made a great decision! After I bought my road king, I knew a (HD) touring bike would always be in my garage. And depending on how you dress them, the RK can still pull off that mean lean, bar hopper look, then go into full dress in minutes. Again, Congrats!
