Default No start help

2011 street glide, 9,000 miles

Bike fired right up, gave two kids ride around neighborhood.

Parked at idle, helping third kid gear up, bike started shaking, sputtering, just running like crap - one cyl?

Hopped on to pull in garage, and it died. Fired up, ran like crap into garage.

Battery reading 12.8v, but now it cranks, but no start.

Ideas?

My buddy's Road King did the same thing a few weeks ago. We thought it was the coil but it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. Check your codes.

I did run out to check codes, and I found a b1006 - accessory line over voltage

regulator issue?

one more update until later.

cleared codes, put battery tender on, green light after half an hour.

fired ride up, but sputtering & shaking still & b1006 code came back.

No father's day riding for me

any ideas on the code? is an accessory causing this?

from what I've read 1006 & 1007 seem to come together, but I'm only getting the b1006.

Thanks for any feedback.

One more thing I noticed; sitting in garage playing with kids tonight I witnessed the security lights blinking for no reason.

All lights blinking randomly????

Any other thoughts?

That code could indicate a voltage regulator going bad. How old is your battery?

Quick update:

b1006 code seems common from research with load equalizer for led tails & turns.

bike was running on one cylinder as it has been confirmed I lost rear cylinder.

I'm not a motor guy, but my indy dug in this week and states no compression, valve spring broke, dropped piston, rear head needs work. Don't quote me on the details. He has some pics for me, but I just got back into town so haven't been to shop yet.

I had been contemplating motor work this offseason, but with the work that needs to be done just to get it running again I am going with a Fuelmoto 107 kit now.

Hard to be excited about unexpectedly having to throw that much coin at it, but it should be much better by next weekend.

If a valve spring broke first, then the valve would hang open and possibly got struck by the piston. That will bend the valve at minimum, and could possibly have caused damage to the piston. If something else occurred, with the spring breaking as part of it, then that's more significant. Either way, that's why the bike lost a cylinder and ran bad/hard to start. That's too bad that happened. We normally don't see too many modern Harley's grenading these days, unless highly modified and run real hard.

Thanks for the info and affirmation Guntoter.

The bike only has 8k miles on it, and I certainly have not run it hard.

Last year I had a different Indy shop(referred by friend) install cams.

The owner of the shop where it is at now states the pushrods look like crap - old or generic, and no identifiable markings. My ignorant *** fault for just trusting the guy!

If push rod(s) were not adjusted properly could that have started the problem?

The + side is though, now you have an excuse for getting that 107.
Perhaps not exactly the way you want to get it, but it is what it is.
You will be happier.
