i've got a 2006 flhx, under the seat is the 4 pin accessory plug. according to what ive read here and in the manual, the wiring is as follows
black-ground
red/yellow-on with brakes
red/orange-on with ignition
orange-on with switch
so i wired up my new LED kit by splicing the positive wire into the Orange (on with acc switch) wire, everything worked fine.
then i turned my bike off, and the LEDs stayed on. there should be no power going to any of those wires once the bike is off, correct? is there something different in the 06 models?
Well, I haven't had a FLKX for a month yet, but I recall that, according to the owner's manual, there is an accessory switch to the right (or left, depending on year) of the ignition that controls power to that plug.
Seems like that would still be off with the ignition off, but who knows?
Not sure, disconnected everything and retried, it works now.
New problem, radio reception was awful, I jiggled the antenna cable plug, and now the fuse for my brake light and running lights blew. Can't find the short, no idea what's causing it
