Did not like the bone stock note of the exhaust. I replaced the header with S&S True Tune Duals and have been happy ever since. Next mod will probably be cams and I'm sure that will change the note of the exhaust and give it an even better sound.
I also have been thinking about taking my Pythons off and going back to stock. Last winter I installed a stereo on my 2012 police electra glide and with the my wife on the bike some times she says "turn this song up I cant hear it" then between the exhaust and the music its deafening. I believe that's an indicator that I'm too old.
Interesting thread....I put SE Street Cannons on my RK soon after I bought it, and honestly even though they are street legal (measure of loudness) they are just too loud for me.....so I have been thinking of putting the stock ones back on. After reading through this thread, I think I'll do it to see how it works......

This spring I replaced a V&H Pro Pipe w/ a Supertrapp Supermeg. Using 26 discs and closed cap. Although I sometimes miss the sound of the v&h, quieter is better for me. Loud often made me jittery - a very bad state of mind for us -- and when I cranked the audio to hear above the pipe, the sound level was clearly bad for my hearing.
I agree. I have even thought of trying to find some Ultra pipes o see if they are quieter than the stock Road King pipes!
don't waste your time. in looking at the oem fiche, the exhaust for a 2010 road king is the same as for a 2010 ultra limited.
instead, try looking for a take off set of the cvo mufflers. they are 4'' diameter, have removeable endcaps (instead of the taper) and actually sound pretty good. especially, if you add the fullsac baffles.

YES!
I would suggest late model take-off CVO mufflers, I left them stock and like the sound but have the option of replacing the baffles.
Alot of people want the effect of people noticing them..
That's me! I want to be "noticed" by texting teens and soccer moms in their BIG SUVs with the family dog bouncing around inside! If they're so distracted that they can't see you, then they should at least be able to hear you! Loud pipes really DO save lives!
