Bmusg , you are an idiot plain and simple , building motors and shocks are two different things , I never said , stated or implied Howard is the only person who can sell shocks and make them work , but the truth is after the sale he goes above and beyond helping you set them on and dial them in , Fuel Moto can definitely drop ship them as good as the next vendor but I have had many people buy from them and have issues getting them adjusted properly , when they called to ask for help they were told to call Ohlins and instead they sent me a message and I gladly helped them . I 100% guarantee you buy Ohlins from Howard and you can call him for help after the sale , just like I'm sure you can call Pro Action , Jri and probably Super Shok and they would help you , you could buy Ohlins from Max at Traxxion Dynamics and I'm sure he would help you too.

Reason: Thread is off track and I'm largely to blame. Eagerly awaiting more Super Shox reports.
I also ordered a set of Traxxion fork cartridges, CCE trees and tubes. CCE has to send the tubes to Traxxion for further machining to fit the cartridges, then I get a present shipped to me from Traxxion.
This should be a great handling, smooth riding OLD bike that's 100% paid for.
Thanks for the good insight into these new shocks...I'm very interested in how they work out for you on your bike...please let us know the results once you get them installed...thanks again!

Not sure why Fuel Moto got brought us up in this thread in the first place as the OP did not purchase from us. We have hundreds of customers running Ohlins products purchased thru Fuel Moto over the past decade for not only the V-Twin market but the japanese & euro bikes as well, maybe you know something we don't however if you have the names and contact info for any Fuel Moto customers you are claiming that were not getting the assistance or support they needed on any component please email this info to my personal email jamie@fuelmotousa.com and we will contact each and every one of them.
The best advice I can offer when looking for a dealer to purchase from is to contact the manufacturer themselves and they will be happy to offer information, advice, technical information as well as recommendations on which companies offer the best services.
Installing these shocks will be a piece of cake. One hand adjustment. Set the sag, ride check comfort and handling. Adjust one setting, preload if needed. Ride, check and report handling and ride. Adjust same sag for two people and note calibration. Ride, check and report handling and ride and whether or not they bottom out.
BTW, I was never able to have preload on the Ohlins and have a smooth solo ride even with the same rate springs Howard installed on Tim's bike. That's why I wonder if the newer bikes have more leverage on the springs and shock internals. Handled great but got pretty beat up. We'll see how these Supershox do. If the handling is equal and the ride improved we will have a winner at less than 1/2 price and MADE IN USA!!!
I still want a full length Touring shock with 4" travel, 2" up, 2" down. Sag set in middle of stroke so I can run over a frost heave or hit that GdMfing pothole that came out of nowhere and not fly out of my seat. Or worse, the OL!!!

One thing I noticed in the Shox video was they look like light spring rate springs ... They sit pretty low, and seem very compliant. Mix that with proper damping and they look good for a smooth ride.
On my ohlins, I had to run lighter springs than they initially recommended, and lighter than I have seen in most of the pictures posted by guys with ohlins. (I run 23n/m for one up). Mine are very good, but still not ideal, in my book.
There is a heck of a lot more damping control in those shim stacks than is offered by any of the external adjustments, and from the sound of it MM may have found a nice mix. Dont know.

I haven't bought anything from Howard because I got the ohlin's #3's from a member that had only 700 miles on them for a decent price. I'm very pleased with them but I did contact Howard and the # 3's shocks were way less than $1K (with the H-D forum discount) very close to what you paid them. He was very informative and once I'll have the coin I will buy from him the front forks cartridge ones.
Anyway what I'm try to say is the ohlin's are not so crazy expensive and it is a proven shock. I'm glad there are more choice out there, competition is what make better and cheaper products.
It is obvious that ohlin's are the leading shocks product in the words, but that doesn't mean is going to be the only one. One thing that I agree with you though is that ohlin's are not the easier to adjust the weight and sag, but the quality and improvement of the ride is unbelievable good.

And for this reason, I am anticipating your feedback, skypilot. I am in need of the same thing, and refuse to buy from "the only guy that can do it right" in the business of shocks. One conversation was all that I cared to stomach, and decided I'd wait until the "next best thing" came along. It hasn't yet, for me, but I KNOW it will. This is still America, at least for now.
Been an interesting thread! We trust you'll chime in after a weekend of breaking them in.

Glad you got a good old pair. What did you pay for the used set and what did Howard say he'd charge? The true list price is $955, according to Ohlins website. He might take $100-$150 off but not selling them for $300 off list and there is no 30 money back guaranty.
