Hi everyone. I have been lurking for quite some time. I have an 06 ultra that I bought new and now has 28000 miles. We just returned from a 500 mile ride on Sat. and when I was cleaning the rear wheel I found a 6 inch split in the rim. Everyone needs to check your wheels more often as this could have gotten interesting in a hurry if the tire had blown out.
I would send pics but I am almost computer illiterate.
I'm confused, does your tire on your split wheel have a tube inside. Seems to me it would have to, if it were tubeless, you would have had a flat. Glad you didn't get hurt.
I only got 8,100 miles out of my rear D-lop. I had to replace it this week-end.
Is the wheel still under warranty? You may want to park it, take the wheel off and take it to the dealer. Or trailor it. It may be too risky to ride, unless your dealer is right around the corner from you.
