Default Speedo wrong?

Went for a ride on straight interstate, all 3 are stock, 06 ultra, 05 ultra, metric cruiser, and set cruse at 75. The GPS systems say we were running 68 mph. The bikes were within 2/3 mph of each other and the 2 gps systems were the same 2/3. Which one were wrong?

All bikes are agressive in the speedometer department. I noticed in a construction site Saturday that the warning speed trap said I was doing 35 but I held it on 39 to see how far off it was...

Funny you should say this , a buddy and I did a ride a few weeks ago and I set the pace at 68 MPH in a 65MPH zone.
We got where we were going and my buddy said his Stratoliner read 75MPH ....
Anyway , the GPS units are probably closer to true , especially if they are WAAS capable recievers and pickup at least 8 satellites each.
We run into this on boats all the time ( USCGAUX ) and most boats lie pretty bad.
You could check with local law enforcement and see if there is a measured mile in your area , then at 60 MPH , check with a stopwatch , and see what is the most
accurate , speedo or GPS.
The GPS units should be closer to true than the speedos.

I think MOCO sets them fast to get maintenance $$ and push through warranty. I put an S&S calibrator on mine and it now matches the GPS.

The GPS is the accurate measurement. I've done the same thing with my GPS. Its good to know that when I'm traveling along at 75 or 78 mph (according to the speedo), that I'm not really going that fast. The odometer is also of a bit.
