I voted for 52596-09A. I put mine on last March and never ride without it any more. I till love it almost 20k miles later! It gives you the option to adjust it on the go. You can put you feet on the highway pegs and really lean back, to change your seating position on a long ride.

I've got chronic lower back pain and use the cheaper fixed style backrest, never tried the other but I have no problem with 500-600 mile days with what I have.
I'd like to try some different seats, one that gave me a little more length (set further back) but a backrest will probably always be required for anything but short rides.

Do yourself a favor and check out the mustang. It works with the stock HD seat, easy enough to adjust it on the fly, and IMO it's nicer looking and less $

Love....love....love...my Harley adjustable back rest. 650 miles in a day a week ago and not a twinge in my back. Would have been crippled without. Adjustable keeps you able to mix things up a bit so as not to get fatigued in any one position.

Don't buy Harley. Harley will rape you. I got mine on EBay for $69. Best investment ever.

I've been through several seats on my bike, standard Road King, pain in the butt after 30 min. Sundowner good for about an hour and a half. Corbin Solo My fav seat but the wife hated the p-pad. Corbin Touring Seat Wife was good with it but I hated it.

Currently riding a HD Hammock, Wife loves it and I'm ok with it.

I had back rest on the on the sundowner a modified pre 09 adjustable which I modified to make work. This work well.

Both Corbin's had backrests. The solo has no adjustment (None!) I made it work by bending the back rest post. This took numerous attempts at bending to get it just right. The Corbin touring seat was almost as difficult to get tuned in. Corbin does provide 4 different length bolts to adjust the back rest, I found that once I got close I had to add washers to fine tune it in. A 1/16th inch washer would move the backrest back about 1/4 inch. Still a pain to adjust. I don't consider this as easily adjustable.

I now using the Hammock and am counting my pennies to purchase the HD adjustable backrest. Yes the are expensive but the adjustability make them worth it.

What I have noticed is my riding position in the morning when I am fresh and rested is different than the end of the day when I am tired. In the morning my posture is better and I sit more upright and in the evening after a 10 hour day I slouch down more. so the adjustment for the morning will different than the evening. Adjustment on the fly is the way to go.

I have the Harley Adjustable one. I also have 3 Failed spinal surgeries (at L5-S1), and possibly looking at a 4th late next year if I can't deal with it any longer. I can adjust it to where it's comfortable enough and not lose what little sanity I have left while riding. I'm ok at first but I saw that the longer I rode the more uncomfortable I became. The only real way to see if it's what you want is try riding a friends bike to see if it's comfortable for you. Test riding a mile or sitting on a bike at a dealer will do nothing for you. Highway pegs may help as well. I'm now thinking about going with a 10 inch bar for comfort. sorry for the ramble
