Never had a tom-tom, but the Nuvi 550 and 555 is MC friendly and water proof.

TomTom Rider, which is bike friendly and water proof and I also use Tyre s/w. I've used mine throughout Europe and even the USA!

Got a Nuvi 55 ($80) with $15 waterproof case from ebay. Coupled with Basecamp free Garmin download), it's absolutely unbeatable for MC routing. CAUTION: You will pull your hair out tryin to figure out Basecamp when yah first start. Stick with it, join their Basecamp Forum, the people there will get yah on the right track

Garmin Zumo 590- Pricey, but the display cant be beat, and the tire pressure monitoring system could save your life...

I have the Zumo 590. As shore said...a bit pricey, but after you have it a while it is worth ever dollar. I love mine!

I've used a zumo 600 for years on 3 different bikes. All kinds of weather without any issues. My buddy laughs at me and uses his iPhone on a handlebar mount with the apple gps software. We both get there just the same!

Refurbished Garmin 2598LMTHD in a RAM aqua box and mounted to the tank, a little bulky but no more following the other guy and getting lost.
