ok i am greasy right now, finishing all fluids.
stripped the trans. drain plug.
not the plug but the pan.
i guess i am the only dumb @ss that has done this.
tell me it is simple like on cars and i just buy an oversize screw/bolt
98 road king classic evo motor efi if helps
Dude if your threads are stripped ,you are going to have to drill and retap, so if you have to do that you might as well drill retap and use a new plug. you might even beable to chase the existing threads. get some taps and try that first.
yes you can....its threaded 1/2-20....a good auto parts store will have a 1/2-13 drain plug kit...or if its just the last few threads, there's abunch in there to seal with so perhaps you can run a tap thru it and clean it up...helicoil as a last option
take your current plug and go to napa or another auto parts store.
Get the next size over repair plug.
It will cut it's own threads into the aluminum pan (self tapping style)
shouldn't even need to drill it out.
Some of these styles come with a smaller piggy backed plug in them for
draining the oil later.
Just be more careful in the future.
Bryan TTM please i value your information,
1/2 -20 ?
i am the original owner, trans drian plug came out as if it took all the threads or at leat 80%..i probably overtighten the bolt last time.
do not understand your reply 100%
should i buy 1/2 -13 kit at pep boys or advance auto (old discount auto) , napa etc
and it will screw-in..please tell me no drill..as it would suck to drill laying down on my back under the bike..
thank you
