Arguably, both. Different acoustic effects leading vs trailing.

I can say mine are chamfered, and my bike sounds like a cicada every time I apply the brakes.

I have just replace all my pads with Lyndall gold plus, my last few changes have been these. My next change will be EBC. Not because one is better than the other but because of cost. Go by specs on breaking not marketing.

I tried two different Lyondell pads and didn't like them as I had to apply what I thought was too much pressure. Plus, the feel and feedback was very different and couldn't get used to it. I did like the fact that I got zero brake dust.

I tried the EBC pads and I could never get the to get quiet. I tried tapering the edges and that helped but not enough. I went back to the HD pads.

Thanks for this. I think I will leave them as is and see if I get used to the noise. Good stopping power and a good price though.

I've got the same noise with my EBC pads, front and back. Buddy at the auto parts store told me to try this stuff.

The EBC pads are already chamfered, leading and trailing edges.
Follow their "Break in procedures", and greatly reduce the chance for noise.
As stated, EBC makes good stuff.

Local dealer here wants $75.00 + 6% tax here. That was just for the back only (1) pair. Sad really. Went with EBC for the rear for $25.00. I mean I like to support my local dealer but wow, really?

Been runnin ebc hh on the softail for a couple years. No noise and not much dust. The ebc rear pads are not the hh, organic ones, I think. They do not have the bite of the HH, which I like and why I installed them. They allow a lot more foot/brake/pedal action prior to any lock up. The stock rear did not have as much room for hard braking prior to lockup. More brake dust though, obviously a softer pad.

I'm using EBC organic/kevlar on DNA rotors. The OEM rotors warped pretty bad on last years big trip, the EBC/DNA set-up survived this years trip just fine. I've used EBC for decades on dirt and street, never been disappointed.

I have not but always put RTV on the back of my pads to stop the squalling. I bet it does the same thing. I worked in a garage 30 years ago and we always added RTV to the back of the pads there.
