Newt does have a very good friend. I was down there in June and really love that area. Some really great roads

I actually liked the "Foothills Parkway" better than the Dragon. At least there I could look around and enjoy the scenery.
Wife probably wont allow me to do another road trip like that again this year (She is in charge of the books). But wondering where to go next year. Any suggestions?

I'd strongly suggest you get yourself a smartphone so you can check weather and room rates, as well as picking a route on the fly.

Thats why I have the wife lol Just call her and let her fingers do the walking.
Most of the guys I ride with have smart phones, but dont worry next time I'll go ahead and book in advance. I wont count on "I have a friend" lol

Hey, watch the old Vietnam Vet stuff.......

I'm heading down there next Monday. What motel did you find in PF for $50/night? I need a place there for a couple nights.

Newt probably really enjoyed the ride. Next time, you lead.

If you are coming to this area you really should check out Hot Springs. Great roads with not all the traffic.

that whole tale sounds like a case of 'poor planning' .. on both your parts..... at least you made it home safe.

Well we had a plan. Just for some reason we couldnt stick to it. We made it home without getting squished so it was a good trip.
We stayed at the Pin Oak Parkway Inn in Pigeon Forge, Tn for $51 and change the second night. Beds were comfortable enough. Had a pool (didnt use, too tired) and pop machine. Every other place was $90.00 and up for the night. Wife reserved the room earlier in the day from hotels.com
