I'm having a hard time fitting a set of Rockford Fosgate speakers in the existing white, speaker boxes, in my fairing. The issue is the tweeter will contact the speaker grill. I don't have new grills, but I want to install the 6.5 in speakers and an amp, before I leave for Sturgis Friday.
Has anyone put the speaker inside of the speaker box? Issues? OR Can i just mount the speaker to the fairing and eliminate these boxes? What is their benefit? They are a pain to remove and I don't want to spend the time to tear them off, if I can't get things to fit. OR has anyone used a different grill?
I had my Kappas inside the pods and they sounded good, then I tried them on the outside like the stock speakers are mounted and they sound MUCH better. You MUST have the enclosures installed! They are your fairing supports! I have the V Twin audio grills installed to clear the tweeters and they work great. I had to slightly modify them...just a clip here and there with the wire cutters but I like them alot.
I just purchased these Rockford Fosgate speakers and have the same clearance issues with the HD speaker grills and tweeter cone on speaker. Can you provide any information on what you did to modify speaker pod or make your RF speakers fit? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
