there is an aftermarket item out there to ensure the jiffy stand is "locked" into place. The name of this product escapes me right now, I'm sure someone else will remember.

Just buy a center stand for it.

Well Jammin1, it looks like the consensus has proven its a sturdy stand. Anyways, when you're riding and it's up, you aren't worrying about it then, are you? Just relax and ride! :-)

Hey guys, giving new life to this thread, but let me know if I should create a new one. First, let me say that I agree with the Jiffy Stand comments regarding the traditional types. However, I just bought an 82 FXRS that has a center stand. I'm not familiar with this type of stand. Bottom line is, it seems that the main mount for the stand is wearing out at the pin hole areas, as well as the locking cam. Harley actually welded this thing to the frame and it looks like a REAL B__CH to replace unless you're a welder, and want to tear 1/2 the left side apart. BAD design in my opinion, but prob done on purpose for some reason.

Anyway, does anyone know of an easy way to fix these or are you forced to go through the hell of replacing it? OR... does anyone know of a GOOD and reliable aftermarket design? I've seen the adjustables that fit to the swing arm bolts, but has anyone used one? Would really like some comments on this if possible, as I will soon have to deal with this one way or the other, and want to do it right.

Thanks!

I didn't think that the FXR's came with a center stand.

Yep! Sure does! It's original to the bike. In fact, 99% of this bike is completely MFG original. 15k actual on it. I say "center stand" but what I mean is that it's a kick out type, just that it's directly under the primary cover in the center. Not out on the left front like the FL's etc. Just wanted to clarify that... thanks!

This doesn't show the center stand. Could it be a "police" option? Is the center stand located under the mid center of the bike or is it located in the front near the bottom of the front frame tubes? Curiosity has got me.

Larry, thank you! Your diagram is EXACTLY what I have. The bracket that actually holds the stand assy. itself is what is worn out, and that puppy is welded to the frame big time. Plus, it seems that the only way to get to it to do anything would be to remove the inner primary cover... REAL PAIN in the #%##%! So, really looking for options that I don't have to mess with that... Really appreciate your interest!
