I picked up the detachable kit for a tourpak and bought one HD "detachable locking latch" 46063-98 to lock the tourpak to the bike. I proceeded to replace one of the latches with the new locking latch & mounted the thing on the bike. Right away I noticed that the key for the lock is too long to actually unlock the item - it semms that there is limited space between the tourpak and the latch to insert into the key into the lock to unlock it and the key is too long to make it work. I didn't set the lock pin on the latch for fear of locking it and not being able to unlock it.
Did I get the wrong lock? If this is the correct lock, anyone else put this on and does it work for you or am I being really paranoid?
i have the same lock on mine that was installed by the dealer. they told me to cut one of the keys in half so it will work. i still havent locked mine or cutthe key
i installed mine and the first time i attempted ot engage the lock the thing broke..
took it back to the dealer.
IMHO..this is a PIS. Save your 30$...if the theives want it they will figure out a way to get it.
