Default Possible 4" pipe problems on 02 carbureted EG

I put a screaming eagle cone filter intake and 4" american performance duel exhaust system on my bike. Ever sense I have not been able to get it to run right. I have taken it to two different mechanics and neither one can get it jetted right, it's either running to rich or to lean. It has a dead spot in it where it backfires through the carb when im just cruzing and if I take off hard on the throttle it cracks and pops. Is it just in my carb or I've heard that it may not have enough back pressure because the diameter of the pipes are so big, is this possible?

Some of this would depend on the carb you have. Any cam work?If it is a CV carb ,they are not that tough to tune. It is also possible that with the large mufflers and intake that the cam will not allow enough air /fuel mix into the engine.

It has the factory cv carb and that is also one of my problems I bought the bike off a guy who is a harley mechanic and he said he believed it had a big bore kit and screaming eagle cam. I'm on a limited budget and I'm far from a mechanic.

Did your wrench tell you what needle and jets are in the carb? Also knowing for sure if it had a big bore kit would sure help . If the jets seem large for a stock bike that may indicate a big bore. Check the A/F mixture adjustment ,it is hidden under a plug on top of the carb. Also a possible intake leak. Just a couple of easy things to check first.
