Default Rear Shock Question

If I replace my 10.5" rear shocks with 13" shocks, will my seat height increase by 2.5" (13.0 - 10.5")? If this is a stupid question, I am sorry. I have been searching online, but can't find any discussion on this.

The simple answer is probably "yes," but since the shocks are installed at an angle, I started thinking the height increase might be somewhat less than the difference in the size?

Typically, it's 3/4" change in seat height for every inch of shock length.

Someone that wants their bike taller? That is a question rarely heard on this forum.

Just curious to why you want to change the shocks to taller ones?

Three reasons:

1. I am tall - 6'2", and the bike feels a bit low for me - personal comfort thing.

2. I am big - 240lbs (350lbs when I ride two up with my wife), and the bike bottoms out occasionally.

3. I have been scraping the floorboards too often, in heavy turns.

A couple of inches higher should do it.

Put on a set of Howard's Ohlins shocks, and don't look back, I have a set of his shocks , and I have to say they are the best money I have ever spent. He is a forum sponsor ,www.motorcyclemetal.com he does give a forum member discount. You will not bottom out again, and the ride is SO much better than stock you will throw stock air shocks out in the street.( happened to me)
