See if the dealer can turn off the ABS light or just deal with it being on all the time. Get new wheel spacers if you ever have to change bearings and go with non ABS bearings?
PS: You can't ask "Why not just go old school with the brakes?" and then say "no preaching". Preaching is generally how those kind of questions get answered around here.

I was told pulling the fuse wouldn't fix the issue when my ABS module failed, mine had a nearly frozen front brake lever when it failed. Was told the new linked system ABS module is a $1200 part.
Make a report to NHTSA, Harley needs to recall these modules. Sometimes it's the front lever, sometimes the rear pedal. No warning when it will happen. Remember, dead bikers cannot file reports.
Pulling the ABS fuse will give you non-ABS (regular brakes) UNTIL that one killer malfunction happens, the frozen lever or pedal. For that possibility alone I refuse Harley ABS until it is redesigned. If your bike won't go, that's bad. If it won't STOP, that is a disaster!
Jeez,I thought the thread was dead. Now we have posts about recalls and potential injured riders.Where will it end?
If the ABS module hydraulic lock malfunction is new to you, you don't visit the forums often enough. There are several reports a year of the lever or pedal becoming rock hard and no pressure is sent to the caliper resulting in no brake. The pressure from the lever or pedal is stopped at the ABS module by a valve malfunction. It is serious enough to have ABS die and you unexpectedly skid a tire but brake loss is even more serious. It has been happening for several years. As of now there has been no recall but many believe there should be.

Well ,I see I am going to have to stay up on the forum members threads about all the problems they are having with the ABS system.Just don't know how I missed all those posts.I do know of several instances where owners have had the ABS malfunction warning light come on and instead of taking to a dealer, they continue to operate the vehicle or pull the ABS fuse and then they encounter a problem. That is called rider stupidity and not a basis for a recall.JMHO

Agreed, please report to NHTSA. This is a serious, life threatening problem. And not uncommon.

Sure, no problem to you. Until this happens to you or some one you know.

Accurate again. This has also happened to vrods. As an abs rider, this is HD BS that needs to be recalled ASAP!!!
To each their own but if it were me, I'd anti-up to replace it - I'd try and buy the part thru Surdyke or someplace and then pay a local mechanic to install and bleed the brakes...I love my anti-lock brakes
Forgot to mention, I know a guy who cleaned inside the module valves with contact cleaner and air. Used mightyvac to bleed and it is working perfectly.
