Default Signal light Issues

Good morning. I've searched high and low for a resolution to my issue, but no one else seems to have had the same problem.

My 07 FLHTC has been giving me some electrical troubles. This past weekend while installing a cruise control module, I came across a frayed wiring harness running up along side the left rear fender. It contained a 3-wire harness, dead ended into a plug, and the radio antenna. I repaired the wires using solder and heat shrink. I'd imagine this is for either auxiliary tour pac lights, or rear speakers (which my classic doesn't have).

My brake lights consist of the center lamp, and the two signal lights "getting brighter." I'm not sure if this is an aftermarket mod or not as I am the second owner.

In any case, yesterday I noticed my left rear signal lamp is lit up constantly, like I'm braking. The two other brake lights work properly. Left turn signal flashes on the dash, but the left rear light stays lit.

I don't know if this problem could be associated with the repair I did the other day, or if it's coincidental. I'm hoping someone has run into this issue before and can be of some help.

Thanks in advance.

you probably have the "run-turn-brake" module installed.

remove it- it is probably plugged in under the seat in line between the bike harness and the wiring for the taillight(s)

then see what your results are

your unused wiring probably has blue ( run light), red/yellow ( brake) and black ( ground) wires in it- if these are isolated from each other and unterminated then they should not affect anything

BTW manufacturers use crimps...soldered joints do not hold up well on motorcycles over time

Thanks Mike. That was the issue. I took that out of line and everything is functioning as it should.
