Default Help!!!!

Hellooo, to all. I removed my rear shocks off my 2012 Electra Glide , and layed them on table (bad move) some of the oil leaked out ,,Harley shop says they are now junk,,of course they are at $265 each from them ,,any way my question is , has anyone refilled them ? if so HOW,, how much oil goes back in and what kind ,also how to do it ,,thanks a lot for any help.
lesson learned ,,don't let any oil out of shocks . thanks again ,chris

I could be missing something here but shocks are sealed units and should not leak unless they are damaged.

Hi mark , they don't have a leak , they are air shocks , and the oil came out of where you hook up the air ,

Ar you talking about the rear shocks or the front forks?

Ahhhh now it's making more sense. No clue on the air shocks never ran them. Maybe post the question in the technical or model specific section.

HD says they are not serviceable. Several people, myself included, have drained and refilled our shocks with a slightly heavier oil. There are several threads on this forum on how to do this. I have a press, so what I did was to drain them by compressing them upside down and releasing the press with a hose in a bottle of fluid so they sucked it back in. This is a simplified explanation. I filled mine as much as I could without it coming back out when compressed. There are several ways it can be done but replacing them is not necessary. In fact if only a small amount came out, I wouldn't even worry about it.
