Default Shock help

Hi Guys, I just purchased a set of air shocks(showa) with the air lines When I recieved them the oil leaked out of one of the airshocks. The box was crushed on one end by the postal service. The packing box was soaked with oil and it looked like the line pulled out of the fitting of the airshocks. The shocks look in perfect condition other than oil covered. Are my shocks still OK, do I need to refill the one shock? If I need to fill it ...how much? I know I've read on the forum that it's not uncommon to have the oil leak out during shipment but I can't seem to find it. Need help Guys.

Send it back get a new one. New shocks that leaks are not ok. Did you call the manufacturer/store you bought them from. Seems to me you should be asking them the question imo.

I bought mine on eBay and the box was soaked with oil too. The guy that shipped them didnt even cap them. I bought the street glide air shocks and just did some searches in the forum and elsewhere to find out how much oil to fill them with. I would drain out the remaining oil and refill them. I have posted before the method I used. Basically, I hung the shock with a hooked wire. I cut off the bottom of an empty water bottle, drilled a hole in the cap and inserted the tip of air tubing, and sealed it with plumbers caulking. I hung the water bottle above the shock, hooked up the tubing to the shock, and put the shock oil in the water bottle to gravity feed the oil in the shock. Took about a day to drain and fill. I did both shocks so they had the same amount of oil. The shocks work great and ride smooth with about 30lbs of air. 2-up I put in 40lbs. It seems every vintage and model of air shocks have different specs of air pressure so you have to find yours or just experiment until you get the right pressure. The seals are probably fine, sounds like the oil just ran out of the fitting like mine.
