Default rear shocks leaking??

I bought some lowering rear shocks off ebay for the Ultra (used). When I opened the box it was dripping with oil. Both shocks were wet. One shock didn't have a valve in it for the air line but I would'nt think oil would come out of there. Whats wrong with these shocks?

Probelly nothing, most shocks will weap if layed on their side. I would not worry about it and use them. Wipe them off and just keep an eye on them for awhile. I have seen this many times and have never seen a problem from it. A brand new set of progressives did this once also.[sm=smiley20.gif]

They do need the plug in them to not leak. I got a set of take offs and they had plugs in but not tight enough. I ended up weighing them to figure how much oil was missing. I used some oil from the old shock to get them the same. If not much leaked out you would be fine. If all the oil leaked out it will ruin the shock. You can use a hand held vacuum pump to refill the shock but they don't sell the oil. Remember to not overfill as the oil will not compress and blow the line off. I used a press to check and the vacuum pump to be sure I did not overfill. Mike

The regular shocks have 340cc of Showa 10 wt suspension oil in them. However, I do not know the correct measurement for the lowering shocks or if it is even different.
