Another question, who's matched HD paint by simply going to an auto body shop and having them scan it with the Spectrometer? (I believe that's what it's called) Then gotten it mixed? I would be interested in this, I want a tour pack, but looking at the cheaper ones on ebay, or a used one off here,, either way it will require painting. My son works at a body shop and could do it. I will not be leaving it on all the time, only for 2up trips with the wife, so it'll be on a QD mount.
i had a guy in Peach tree city georgia match my 09 white pearl metallic AND
Peweter (sp) It was a long process but he said it was a PPG paint,,,BUT he
did match it perfectcally!!

I had my inner fairing painted to match my big blue perl sg. The shop sold me and promised me they would come out color matched perfect. The color match came out ok but you can see the diff but the other issue is that the metal flakes were smaller, so it looks different especially in the sun because of that. The pearl and the metal flake for my color is murder to match. I guess it's better than matte black but it def does not match perfect but I also saved $200 not ordering from Harley. If I had to do it again, I would have gone with Harley and not had it painted. The inner faring is what you are looking at all the time! It does bug me! I may even suck it up and buy from Harley and sell mine. I'll try to post pics so you can see.

Thanks, like I said, it's not going to be on all the time, I'm looking for trips with the wife, (or alone) and just wanted it to match. Amber Whiskey isn't a pearl, so it should be able to match well I would think.
even if it doesn't come out perfect, you aren't going to be able to see while you're riding.
if you can get a discount on the paint and labor, your plan is solid. if you have to pay full pop for the paint job, then getting the tourpack already color matched from hd through one of the discount dealers is a better bang for your buck. (for those who don't have sons working at body shops.....)
If your bike is a HD color than give colorrite.com a look I dinged my front fender putting on handlebars, so I went to them. My 14 TK is mysterious Red/ Blackened Catene and they matched perfect.
