I had the same thing happen on my old triumph at 70mph. those little buggers hurt like crap when they hit your calf. Never had it happen on eith one of my Harleys ....... yet. i think I'll check 'em before the next ride.
Wow! First lesson... if you feel, hear, or notice something funny/wierd on the bike it is a good idea to look and see why.
Thanks for the post as I too will be checking mine as part of pre-ride. Good luck getting it fixed right and under warranty. Ride Safe!
Every time I service the bike, I go over all fasteners to see if they have worked loose. I dont get the torque wrench out, but just checkem.
Riding with a buddy yars ago, he lost the left peg at 70mph and almost went down. Once we stopped and he regained his color, I couldn't stop laughing as just the day before his horn fell off. (old bike, never receved much in the way of TLC).
Told him he had better stap his azz on the bike or he was going to be the next thing to fall off
Rumor has it that is the new RK anti-theft security system.... only takes a 5/8 box wrench 'key' to run one bolt out a half inch to lock up the rear wheel for additonal security....
