Default intercom help

Trying to figure out my intercom system. 2014 FLHTK. The basics, both helmets are plugged in, I have turned the intercom on and I am pretty sure I have adjusted the volume high enough. If I understand the Boom book right it is voice activated, I have also tried it pushing PTT. When we push the PTT, the indicator light does light up on the screen, but can not hear the wife and she can not hear me. When we just talk, trying VOX the music goes down but we still do not hear each other. Any help would be appreciated, guessing I am just missing something obvious. Thanks

Has it worked up until now? I just got a '15 Limited, so wife and I had the same problem on the ride home. Of course I read instructions last after I get a problem. We needed to go into the Set UP for speaker/headset and select the headsets for what we wanted to hear through them. Then all was good.

Plus you have to be in the intercom mode to get the volume for the intercom to go up and down and also try adjusting your vox if you have it set to high your voice won't override it.
I have had to play with mine on occasion. your wife needs to adjust her volume separate for the intercom and the cb as well as the stereo but you have to be in each of those modes to be able to adjust the volume for that mode.

Get both you and your wife on the bike.
Have her count to 10 into the boom mic. When she starts talking, push the up volume on the handlebar. That will increase the intercom volume (yours/rider). You should start to her her voice increase while doing this.

After, you do the same. Count to 10 and have her push up on her volume control until your voice is loud and clear.

Something to try anyway.

Thanks for these good suggestions, but I have tried all of them. My HD contact is telling me that there is a new download for the 2014's. Open for any other ideas, but I am afraid it is going to be a trip to the dealer.

Does the rest of the infotainment stuff (music, gps) come clearly through the helmet speakers? If you get in the COM/intercomm menu and set the VOX all the way up and then have your wife speak into her helmet, as said if you adjust the volume it should work. Then you can back down the Vox level to what works for you on the road.
