I had the same problem.. took one of the spacers out and got that SOB in there with help from two buddies. It went on and locked into place.. but now I can't get it off. Definitely no "quick disconnect" going on.

Grind a bit off of the spacers on the 4 point bracket (between fender and bracket). I had a similar issue with a dealer installed 4pt station on my 13 SG. Had to pull apart the backrest to get it to fit. Ground down the spacers on the station itself and now is slides on easy. Take you time as you can't take too much off or you will have the reverse problem and need to add washers.

Thanks for the suggestion... Grinding the spacers is an option I guess. Wish I had a grinding wheel though. Maybe I need to look into one of those in the market place next.

Or, I could fugly it up and remove the spacer and add a whole bunch of washers. LOL

I honestly think it's something with the 4 point dock kit I bought (from HD) because I tried a buddies HD sissy bar as well, and his hit the same point on the mount that mine did. So it's not the sissy bar for sure. The guy I asked to try his sissy bar with, also works at HD and said that the install is correct. (Not sure how you could screw the install up anyway). So, more than likely it's hardware issue and I'll seek an exchange.

I thought there was a slight chance that I installed wrong, but two people have looked at it to verify it's installed correct.

Just curious if others have had HD product issues similar to this?

My sissy bar is the same way and dealer says they see it all the time. Take the latches off and cut a 2x4 or large diameter dowel rod to width of docking hardware. Jam it into your sissy bar and let sit for awhile. It will eventually flex enough to go on easily. I did mine over the winter. Put it in for a few days than take it out. Repeat a few times and it will go on like butter.

I cant really see by your first photo what the black mounting part of the stud looks like on both ends. Mine is a 2015, so a little different but I had to take the studs off of the docking plate, remove the washer and reverse the black mounting studs as one end of the stud was thicker. I had the same problem and that was my solution. Hope this helps.

FWIW I took the 4-pt dock off my 2010 RK and installed it on my 2012 RK and the sissy bar and luggage rack fit the same. I'd also say bring your sissy bar to the dealer and see if they will let you try it on a bike they have with the dock.

Not talking about the latches - on a sissy bar the do go inside. What I mean is reverse the position of the spacers and nylon sleeve as shown in my photo. Sleeve on first, then the chrome spacer.

My quick release clamps are also on the OUTSIDE. I had to use a hammer wrapped in cloth to gently seat the front right fork into the shock mount. For whatever reason they were scraping one another just enough to not allow it to lock in. No damage done except a little of the gloss black scraped off (not noticeably to anyone but me).
