If you do get them to shine again, soak the whole motor in WD-40. It keeps the black finish on the motor nice as well

Shout it out!!

I have been using the Shout stain remover soap for the last few years on all my bikes. It is super concentrated soap so make sure you only get it on the engine area and not near the brakes. This stuff is really slick so if it gets on the pads they do not work very well until it burns off (don't ask me how I know).

It also makes the engine smell good when you first start it up. Bonus!
