Anything else to stabilize handling?
Keep looking and you can sometimes sort of see that the bike appears to be swinging back and forth around the steering head, with the front and rear doing opposite things around the steering head.
Which isn't to say very much, as the entire video is of extremely poor quality. So it's darn hard to discern much, especially with any sort of certainty.
If you've experienced wobbling on your bike in a turn, you can try something out yourself. Dive into a turn, and gently wiggle the handlebars. Does this feel the same as the wobbling you experienced? I know it does on my bike.
I strongly suspect a whole lot of bagger wobble lives there in the undampened and extremely loose steering head.
Turned out it was the tires I swapped to. I run Agitator 18" & 18" on my motorcycle, and I wanted to go back to Metzler. I had Metzler on the stockers [and still do - they're on the shelf in the garage]. Anyhow I thought "Of course I want Radial Tires..." apparently not.
I talked to the Metzler rep at Sturgis, and he said our heavy motorcycles require bias play. Secondly the rear tire turned into a racing slick after 7000 kilometers. Sure I have a 120R but 7000 k?? Whiskey Tango Foxtrox???
So now I'm runnin' just good ol HD Dunlops. I've done a few speed tests, and they do just fine at 125 mph. Illegal yes, but you gotta know right?
No not through corners, but straight stretches I'd get the wobble going with the Metzler radials. I am a bit of a tire pressure nut too. I ran them at the 38/40 and higher like 42/42, 42/48 etc just to test.
I agree with Graham [grbrown] re:stabilizers and re-read his post earlier this week. But The tires can have a big effect too.
My buddy on a new '15 FLTRXS had a good wobble coming home. He was bone stock in the tire suspension arena...
Come on spring...
