I have a 2015 street glide that I want to put the accessory bag on my windshield. Providing that I can get one that fits has anyone attempt at this yet? How does that affect the air turbulence if any?
When I close the button to let the airflow or not he doesn't really seem to make much difference that's why I was thinking of utilizing one.
I bought one, rode 30 miles on the interstate, and took it straight back.
IMHO, it sucked.
But I'm not on a SG. If you SG has the stock shield, you won't notice any difference. The stock SG shield isn't big enough to allow the vent to work as designed in the first place.
I have a SG stock shield that I use when it's over 100ş and I'm wearing my fullface SHOEI GT-Air to allow good air to get to the helmet vents.
To answer your question, if you have the stock SG shield, the bags will not make a bit of difference to the air flow.
I made a bag for my old '13 Street Glide, because of the Harley W/S and hog pro speakers, out of a leather pipe bag. I use to have trouble clearly focusing on road signs and such when I rode. I thought it was just my eyes, till I bought the new '15. With the vent open, that buffeting that everyone talks about went away. I ride with mine open always. Here's where I put the bag on the new one.
I had the dealer add it when I bought the bike, so I can't say how much different it might be without it.
The vent button is still easily accessible.
I installed mine, a few thousand miles after I bought the bike, exactly as shown above. With the original stock windshield I didn't notice any difference in the function of the Vent with or without the Windshield Bag in place. The Vent does reduce buffeting ever so slightly when open, for me. I then replaced the stock windshield with the 15" Harley Windshield (Tall). I still do not notice any functional difference open or closed. I do prefer the vent open as it does decrease my buffeting ever so slightly. But my buffeting has never really been much of an issue either way. The taller windshield did eliminate the slight helmet buffeting that my wife was experiencing. But opening or closing the vent with either windshield made no difference + or - to her.
