This isnt a pissing match before we start, just curious.
I have an 07 RK Classic, bone stock, with 4000 miles on the clock. Last night doing about 85mph in 6th I went to WOT and held it there for a few minutes. Top speed I saw on the clock was around 102mph and that was all she wrote. Seems a bit low to me, I was expecting to see 110 to 120mph. I was riding solo with the stock screen.
Not bothered about top speed, as its not what I use the bike for, just concerned that it may be a symptom of another issue.
Sure isn't good for the engine to run WOT for very long, plus you are endangering yourself and passenger if one is carried. Reaction time to something in the road is nano-seconds....like a 2"x4", some other debris.
We had two young guys killed the same week, on the same stretch of 6-lane highway during the wee hours of the morning. Young men...25ish...on sportbikes traveling well over 120. One hit the back of a pickup truck with camper shell, the other just lost it somehow. Your life can be snuffed in an instant of poor judgement.
