I am in the market for a 2007 Electra Gide Ultra Classic and recently found a nearby dealer offering $2,300 off of a new, in-stock Ultra! It wasn't too long ago that Dealers were charging that much OVER MSRP. The times are a changin'. Now, can anyone help me with a color? What are some of your favorites? I kind of like the Retro look of the 2 tone Burgundy/Cream...
Opinions about colors are great, my friend, but it's YOUR ride and colors are usually personal choices. You may want to consider if you're ever going to do paint on the ride because that may affect your choice. I liked pewter and black cherry. Guilty has a beauty of a blue RK. The burgundy and cream is a good choice, especially if you think you might go for a retro look. My color wouldn't look so good on a retro bike. Hope this helps. Find a bike with acolor you like and can live with because it isn't cheap to repaint.
Looked at the '07 ULTRAS and was wanting the 1> Burgendy/Creme 2> VIVID black or the 3> Black Cherry 4> Black Perl. The Black Perl was more 'graphite' and while Rich in color with the flake it wasn't quite dark enough. My salesman was actually the owner of the dealership (Ed Jr. at Destination Harley in Tacoma/Fife Washington). He went and showed me an '06 vivid black they had in their used area and he only said this:
"Black is classic but the concern you might have over the long run is swirls. He felt the clear coat was a little too 'soft' and If I didn't want swirling (which is common anyway over time) to possibly look at the lighter colors which would hide 'em well.
So what was "NEW" on the floor that had any interest for me was the Black Cherry and the White Gold Perl. I was still torn between the Black Cherry and the White (In reality I was more interested in the Black Cherry (as they had that in stock but not the vivid black) and not really all that interested in the White Gold Perl which to me looked like a big marshmellow). Only real differences between the Black Cherry and the White was the Black Cherry had the Laced rims and the White had the mags.
I let my wife choose (seeing as she was being so nice to let me buy a $22k bike). She chose the White and the rest is history.
My bud has a white/Blue '07 Ultra and can already start to see a little bit of swirling starting to appear in the blue area.
the white gold perl looks awesome in the sun. The gold really shows well and gives the bike a totally different look than on a cloudy day. The Darker colors have a more 'glassy' appearance when waxed to a show finish. Because they are darker the reflections off of them are amazing. With the White you don't get quite as much reflection because of the light color.
Good luck in your decsion. Had there been an burgendy/Creme on the floor I would have bought that one without even looking at any others and tried to make it as retro looking as I could.
