Default Progressive monotube help

I'm looking at Progressive monotubes 31-2500 (std) or 31-2501 (1" drop) for my 2012 Road Glide Custom. I've got a 19" HD Agitator wheel on the bike.

Can I use either with my 2012 RGC without changing the rear shocks? I have 12" adjustable Harley rear shocks on the bike.

Does the 31-2501 monotube ride as well as the standard height 31-2500 monotube?

Thanks

I have Progressive front springs in my Dyna. Not a mono tube. Do you want to drop an inch that's not a huge amount. You will lose that travel. Progressive has great customer service. I don't know a huge amount about bagger front ends. Are you worried the rear won't go high enough. What's total length on 01 and 00. Is one std. The other heavy duty or just shorter. Are you rears auto or hand pump? You could pump rear suspension all the way up and see what one inch off mono tube would get you. Also since it wouldn't be a straight drop, the actual inch measurement related to rear would probably be 3/4" depending on the rake of forks. If that makes any sense. If your going totally 2 up packed with full load go with the longer tube. When it comes to stopping that inch may be the difference of bottoming out. I got progressive rear std. and Progressive front std. springs for Dyna I wish I would of went heavy duty for riding 2 up. If it's not soft enough go with lighter weight shock oil.

I have a 2011 SG with the 12" hand adjustable rear shocks and the 31-2500 monotubes on the front. I also have 19" enforcer wheel on the front. I have 2 clips installed as I have added weight by installing an amp, running lights, speakers, heavier handlebars and fairing bags. Ride is stable, doesn't dip and is much improved over OEM. You can install the 2500 or the 2501. I chose the 31-2500 to keep my profile the same as OEM. Hope this helps.

I have a 13 Road Glide Ultra with monotubes, stock height. I have the stock rear shocks.

Much improved ride, I like the monotubes, but I dont have experience with the lowered ones. Generally I'm leary of lowering my bike, its not uncommon that lowering compromises the ride.

I'm 5-9, I used 1 clip, and I'm quite pleased with the setup

I'm thinking I'll use the 31-2500 std. height monotubes and 1 clip. Thanks.

I have the standard height monotubes with 1 clip and 13.25'' Ohlins #6s in the rear. I am 5.9, 200 lbs. and am very happy with the improvement in the front end. With a lowered rear, 12", and a larger front tire, I would definitely recommend the shorter monotube to try and maintain, or get close to the stock centre of gravity. The fork angle and trail increases as you raise the front or lower the rear. In your case, you have done both with the 12" rear shocks and the 19" front tire, substantially changing your steering geometry.

After riding a week with 2 clips... Too firm for the bike. Even with the extra weight, the front end was too firm compared to my new rear adjustable shocks. Will take front down and take out one clip. I guess I over-thought it.

I run the 31-2501 and run the rear at "stockish" height when the road is crappy. In my opinion you'll be fine, but it will look way better with the rear lowered as well.

How much work is it to remove the one clip? Fork legs have to come out and disassembled?

Been there, done that.

It's a complete tear down. The 6MM screw has to be removed.
