Progressive monotube help
It's really not particularly hard, just time consuming and a bit tedious.

Lucky me, I just did a flush axle kit that required a captive nut in the left hand tube that covers that 6mm screw.

Ha...me too. You can tap it out. It doesn't need to be tapped completely out all the way to get to the 6mm.

It's fairly easy to tap out with the leg removed from the bike. Use the screw you used to put in to tap it out.
Some guys recommended a gear puller but it wasn't needed on my removal.
It's worth 1 clip for me is so much better. I'm 185 lbs. 1up or 2up doesn't matter with the clip set up.
