And what a difference in the rain, too.
Many of us have been guilty of pushing our luck on tires.
My Grandaddy used to say "Ride on good rubber, and drink good liquor, you will go a lot further".
In this case, the bike was that way when I got it. The shinko looked like a paddle tire on a dune buggy. Bwa ha ha
Update: just took it for a putt down the freeway after going from 32psi to 36psi. All the twitchy is gone. 80+ and it feels great. Now, to wear out the rear so I can put on the new rear, for a tire match. Should be good to go after that.
I did take it out on the freeway last night at 80+ and now know what people mean by "lively". Balance and vibe free is great, but side winds feel a little twitchy. I was at 31psi and took it up to 36 this morning. Will have to go try it again. Do you feel this with the mich- 2s? It's not bad, just a little different with the Am elite. --- curious!
I don't know of any vehicle that won't wander while doing 80 down the highway with a side wind. With that said, always put the correct tire pressure as recommended by the tire manufacturer. I put near the max for my tires which is 35 psi.
i'm about due for another set of shoes for the little girl. i replaced my stock tires on my 2013 ultra classic limited with the same dunlop tires. never had a problem with them. i got 20000 out of the set but was getting close. pretty much the same now at 38500, i'll need some soon....maybe at the 40000 service.
Shinko tires are ****, period.
Anybody who buys them is wasting your green.
Cheap Korean crap.
I got it with the shinko on it and got rid of it quickly. Trying to bring this $5k steal back to a really nice ride. The suspension is next to get made right. Totally stock engine but runs really good. For one-up, I like my wg, but for 2-up, mama is in love again. Just have to make that ***-end good for her--- the bike's ***-end that is, lol. If mama is happy, the world is good
It's funny this thread just came up because I had never replaced any tires on my bike. I was on the highway the other day coming around some big sweeping bends at around 70 and my wobble was terrible. I started think about all the things it could be and then noticed my rear tire was basically bald and worn flat in the middle. Replaced it with a Dunlop American Elite, and it's honestly like riding a new bike.
Keep tire pressure correct and your tire life will be much better. Cupping is generally due to improperly inflated tires. And use a good quality gauge, not the stick type. IMO just about anything is better than the older style D tires, except maybe a Shinko.....
