Picked up an 03 egc a few weeks back. Got it right but the guy had a shinko in the front. Still had tons of wear left but it was cupped out pretty bad, causing the bars to do the vertical dance buzz at anything above 50. Just installed a new American Elite and the difference was immediate and very pleasant. Took it up to 70 and 0 bar dance. Being brand new I didn't lay it over too far but it gave no indication at all that it wanted to do anything other than what I asked of it. Bars stayed dead still and felt like I was coasting with engine off. We'll see how she handles the long haul, but for now, quite pleased.
Yes, they do make a lot of difference, I just had a set of Michelin Commander 2's mounted on my 14 limited, although the Stocker's lasted over 20,000 mi, they were noisy, I'll handling. So far I really like the C 2's, Although I only rode the 80 mi. Ride home, including rain, they preformed exceptional

Ain't new tires sweet? I got a set but the back is a D402 and still looks and is doing good. As soon as it starts to get there, I'll put the other new one on too. Might even take a putt to visit my brother in Az. --- I'm in La....
And what a difference in the rain, too.
Many of us have been guilty of pushing our luck on tires.
My Grandaddy used to say "Ride on good rubber, and drink good liquor, you will go a lot further".

I notice no matter what gets the new tires, the ride difference is very noticeable. I have been a fan of Michelin for decades and have Commander 2's on my bike now. Love them. Now, just curious how many miles I get out of them before I want new ones.....

I did take it out on the freeway last night at 80+ and now know what people mean by "lively". Balance and vibe free is great, but side winds feel a little twitchy. I was at 31psi and took it up to 36 this morning. Will have to go try it again. Do you feel this with the mich- 2s? It's not bad, just a little different with the Am elite. --- curious!

Check for the correct pressures for your bike on the Elite website. Some aftermarket brands use different pressures to those in the manual.
Keep tire pressure correct and your tire life will be much better. Cupping is generally due to improperly inflated tires. And use a good quality gauge, not the stick type. IMO just about anything is better than the older style D tires, except maybe a Shinko.....

Cupping is also an indicator of incorrect tire balancing.
