Just bought this 09 flhtcu and found these instead of stock. I think these are progressive 940s. Can't find a lot about them.

Curious if:
1. They are a 940?
2. Are they a precursor to the 944? Found plenty of info on the 944 just not much on the 940.

 

Correct. 944 supersedes the 940.
Keep in mind progressive warrantees their shocks for life should the 940 s go bad, leak whatever.

I don't know if they will want you to provide a reciept.
They have the option to fix or send you new ones if they ever fail.
Call them up and chat.

Yep, 940's. I just left mine go on a trade today since the Street Glide Specials have adjustable shocks. I bought those new for $479 about five years ago to replace air shocks on a Street Glide. It was a really good purchase. A new feature led to the 944 model and phased out the 940's. I see like me that they used a marker to indicate accurate rotation indexing since it's easy to loose track. Each full turn adds 80lbs of dampening and I think they can go ten full revolutions. I weigh 200 and the wife 115, 1-1/2 turns with a tour pak was ideal.

 

I had a set of monotubes go bad and progressive wouldn't help me at all.Will not but another product by them.
