Default Transmission Oil

I see some are using the Amsoil severe gear 75w-140 in their transmission. Isn't 140 a bit high? Wouldn't 75w-90 be a better viscocity?

I've been using Redline V-Twin transmission fluid which states the following and maybe Amsoil is similar.
From Redline:
The viscosity characteristics allow the lubricant to resist throw off and provide a film thickness similar to a 75W250 grade, while providing the same low fluid friction as an SAE 75W90.

Yes because the 75w is the same? When hot I would think anything over 90 would be too thick.

Thanks for the short cut! It looks like the 140 is too thick!

The 75-110 seems to work well.

75/140 Severe Gear here for many 10s of thousands of miles. It has performed excellent, even in our colder climate.

I have ran severe gear 75/140 for a total of 140,000 miles between my last two bikes. Had no transmission issues with either bike...................Ran the stuff year round with great results.
