I have these bars you are interested in. I am in Florida but routinely ride in North Carolina due to having a uncle that lives there that I can stay with for free. I thought with the 12's on, I actually had better control of the bike in the twisties.
For my mirrors, all I did was flipped them and put them on upside down. I really like the look of them.
Much more comfortable ride with these bars on over stock. I had mine put on because it seemed like a real pain in the ***.
I can't speak on the controls since I have stock controls.
I also went with black bars. If anyone can explain it to me, I will put pictures up. Or pm me your email and I'll send them that way.

I called a local shop today. Asked for a quote on installing the Yaffe's, if i supply the bars and extensions. Dude said $1,200.00. I thanked him and hung up.

I installed the 14" yaffee monkey bars this spring on '09 SG. I can see out mirrors a lot better than with the 13" cycle smith bars I was runing previously. I am 5-10 and my hands are just slighly above shoulders. The yaffe bar height measure differently than the cycle smiths as these are a couple inches taller. I do all my own work but these took a little patience to install because of the sharp bend in the bars to snake the wiring. The right side of the bars
were not deburred from the factory and getting a file in there is impossible - I fished through an old bicycle chain and pulled back and forth and was able to clean up the sharp edges. Wrap all wiring in electrical tape or shrink tube and lube up before you try to run through. Will need to push and pull wiring a little at a time to get it through the bar bend, slow going - this is where the patience wil come in. When all was done It was worth the aggravation.

Yea they look the *****...Will i switch them back? No purchased bike with them.
Picture also shows the Yaffe trim pieces to go in place of stock mirrors.

Dale, i don't like saying this to another man but, that's just pretty. You have beautiful bike and those apes really compliment the look. No shoulder issues but I will get that numb tingly feeling in my hands from time to time. Regarding the possible shoulder issue, I'm wondering if its due to have to large of apes. Ultimately, I would love 14's but I'm thinking they may be to large and uncomfortable for long hauls. Anyway, tomorrow morning, I'm picking up my CFR's from a mod shop (4 long months of waiting). I'm gonna get a quote for them to do the install.

Again, I really love the look of your bike. Thanks for sharing.

I went to Apes because I wanted BETTER control in the twisties...and the apes ABSOLUTELY improved my control at higher speeds....they are a bit different at slow parking lot speeds, but you will be used to it VERY quickly. When going to Yaffes, I think they measure their bars from the inside to inside of the bars, other builders do it from center to center, and yet others do it from outer to outer...hence all the different heights of bars, as my Yaffe 12's are taller than my buddies 13's from a different builder...

If I were you, I would do them yourself...its not difficult, just takes patience...and make sure you have ALL the parts you need. Mine was a 15 so it was a LOT simpler on mine than my friends 13, as he had a cable clutch and the brake lines were shorter...so we needed more parts and had to leave the bike apart for days waiting on parts....

Parts list:
Bars
Control extensions (we did Namz extensions)
Clutch cable - extended
Brake lines - Extended
Bushings polymer
Grips

other "stuff"
heat shrink
length of dog tag chain to run cables in the bars (we tried a few different things and this was by far the easiest
grease for bars to run cables
zip ties
Brake Bleeder
electrical tape
small pick to disassemble connectors
pen and paper (write down the connectors)

Get all this ready before hand, along with some tunes and a 12 pack and you will have zero issues doing the bars right along with that install video you posted...as long as you have the tools its simple...hardest thing was remaining patient and not getting frustrated.
