Default Front Wheel Removal

08 Ultra with stock front fender trim. Need to replace original right side "Ultra Classic" chrome strip. Cannot get hands or tools in position to do so. Appears I need to remove wheel. I do not have a lift stand or a jack. Only have center stand. Suggestions??

I am sure there are alternatives to a motorcycle jack, but that is the safest way to get front wheel up off the ground.Putting a block of wood under the center stand just raises the back wheel up further and then you need a lot of weight on rear of seat to get front end off the ground.

Yup, you're pullin' the front wheel for that one. As said above, a 2x6 under your center stand and then weight down that rear end will help get that wheel off the ground. The safer way is invest in a motorcycle jack, but if you don't do much of your own wrenching, then the block of wood method should do the trick. Good luck!!

I use an auto scissor jack under the f/h front of the frame - kitchen towel central cardboard tubes when squashed make a great pad to avoid spoiling the paint! Obviously you need to take care, but once jacked up use some wood or other packing to lower the bike back down and make it more stable.

Your going to need a jack or lift eventually...............Keep an eye on Craigslist as they're usually a few on there for sale reasonably priced.

Go to Harbor Freight when they are having a sale on their lift, got mine on sale for $59.00 with coupon and have used it for 5 years without any problems.
