Default Saddlebag Swap - HELP!

Ok - here's my dilemma. I purchased my 2nd scoot a few weeks ago. I took the leap from my Fatboy to a 07 RK Custom. I couldn't be happier with it. I hate to admit it but I want to take off theleather bags & put hard bags on painted to match my paint scheme. Just thought I would post this out there & see if any of you have some input. I haven't done my homework yet as far as price goes. My major question is what bags will fit? Maybe some of you have experience with this & can chime in.

Thanks in advance!

They are pricey. Besides the leather bags on the custom are cooler and one of the big differentiators from the other RK models. Why did you get the custom? Now that I'm through ranting I should think any of the hard bags that come stock on any of the touring models should match right up to your quick connect points. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I know I'm gonna take a lot of heat for buying the Custom & wanting hard bags. Trust me - I'm beating myself up over this because I put so much thought into this bike & I agree that a big reason I bought the Custom was because of the leather bags. Maybe it's my pint scheme that makes me think hard bags painted to match would look better. I'm gonna toss this idea around in my head for a long time.

Sweet looking sled you got there. here's a tip, why not try the bags from the ultra you're parked beside? That would give you an idea of what should fit.

I switched over to hard bags on my Classic. All I did was adjust the mounting hardware on the frame.

The mounting brackets and hardware the bags attach to are the same for all touring bikes. I checked recently because I am adding RK Custom bags to my EG. Simply loosen the 7/16" bolts that attach the bracket to the bike, put the bag on the bike's saddlebag support rail, then move thefront bracket to where the locking pin will catch the wire and repeat for rear bracket. After both pins are secure, tighten the 7/16" bolts and you are done with that side; then do the other side.
