Ya I have the MM FI system and it sure is quirky, decal pop, stumbling idle the usual stuff, so now looking at a carb set up and have a few questions
Here is what I have for parts so far and still collecting;
32435-01 wiring harness, ignition
32478-99B ignition module
Intake and Mikuni hsr 42mm carb
1- will this harness and ECM be plug and play as I am not an expert in modding a harness
2- will this set up eliminate the cam sensor and use only the crank sensor
3- will my stock EFI coil work
4- will the fuel gauge work and low fuel light after I remove the fi pump
I found this online, I hope that it helps you out. There should be someone on here that could help you better, going to a carb is a popular modification for these bikes. I can't really help you out much more, as I went the opposite way with my 2001. I replaced my MM with an S&S VFI (Variable Fuel Injection) and S&S 52mm throttle body. I liked the idea of fuel injection, I just wanted something a little easier to tune.

I have a 1995 ultra. it was the first year of the MM FI.
It ran like crap when I got it and I was also considering
converting to a carburetor, but there were tank mods
that needed to be done.
Zippers ThunderMax has a conversion kit available that
will replace the throttle body, and the ECM plugs into the
stock harness. It uses wide band O2 sensors for full time
auto tune. I must admit, the canned tune
that zippers provides should be setup on a dyno for best
results, but the bike runs great now.
I converted my 98 ultra to carb from mm efi after the ecm died. It's a fairly easy process. I went with an S&S super E, and Ultima ign (I went with a new coil from dynatek) and made my own wiring harness. this link may help you:
After checking my records and trying to find my previous posts, I regret that I am unable to find the conversion parts list. Try searching for parts lists on Harley Tech Talk or V Twin Forum. That's where I got the most help. Changing from the M&M to a carburetor took about six hours will really be worth your effort. It greatly improved the performance of my 95" 2001 Road King by increasing torque from 92.26 to 103.71 and horsepower 72.43 to 81.56.
Thx for the replies so far, I can wrench pretty good, just not positive about the harness 32345-01 is plug and play, I thought I read somewhere there was splicing
The article that I posted stated that harness "32435-99 or the equivalent" is plug and play. Now you just need to find out if 32435-01 is the equivalent or what it would take to adapt it.
I am researching, trying to help you out. You say that you have harness 32435-01. Those numbers are the type of numbers that Harley would use. I have been trying to find that harness using Ronnie's HD. 1999 HD touring with carb used harness 32435-99. 2000 & 2001 use 32435-00. And 2002 (Delphi) uses 32435-02. I cannot find 32435-01. I put together pics that show the 32435-99 and 32435-00 harnesses, so you can compare them.
