Default Apes on a King.. ?

I need some help people. I am not happy with my stance on the bike. It doesn't feel right anymore. My bars feel a whole lot better than stock but I still dont feel right, just yet. I have a set of Wild1 Chubbys on her right now. I love apes but I have never had them on a tourer. I know for a fact that if I go with apes, it will be aFAT set of bars. They will compliment the Kings thick front end best. I searched the net and have founda set that is 1.5" thick. Can you guys post pics of your "Aped Tourers" to help me with my decision? I plan on staying legal so... I am only going as tall as my shoulders. I havent measured that yet but I just need some eye candy in order to decide. If you do posta pic, can you please include the height and thickness.

Thanks much!!

I'm just over visiting from the Softail forum, and am a Fat Boy owner, so can't help you in your quest for pics, but I can tell you there is a guy out where I work who has a RKC with apes (I'm guessing 16"s), and it looks AWESOME! I drool everytime I see it. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to make that leap myself quite yet on the Fatty. Just going to install 4 1/2" pullback risers tomorrow. I realize you're considering functionality as well, but if you're worried about the appearance of them on your bike, I for one give is a big 'thumbs up' in the looks department.

Thanks Kato. I appreciate the info. I haven't seen to many kings (in person) with apes, unfortunately. I believe they would look great, just afraid of the change. lol...

Hey Whiskers! I like those apes but the style isn't for my scoot. They look like z-bars. I'm not too keen on that look for my "Classy biotch"

Nothing against GMoney's ride. It's an awesome looking scoot. His bars match his theme.

Thanks for the info, though.

Rhinohd, Here in the Carolinas... It's shoulder height. Anything above that is ticketable. Of course, like DOT lids... Cops wont mess with you just for that, but if they are having a bad donut day, you'll have another ticket.

Mine are 12.5" Chubbys 1.5" thick. They are the perfect size for me. I'm 5'11"

I'm 6'2" tall and had 16" apes on top of 1" HD risers and if I sat up straight the bars were even with my shoulders. IfI slouched back in the saddle they looked sky high, so your posture can make a bigdifference. If I seen the cops coming my way I would always sit up straight. Never got pulled over because of them. Good luck with yours. Hope this helps with your decision.............BG
