The politicians have not done enough to legislate it. Stupidity needs to be outlawed.
I hope you don't mean that, that is a very dumbocratic way to think of fixing anything and a major problem in the US. Stupid is stupid, don't make it my problem.
I feel bad for the dude. He has a long road ahead of him. I know burns hurt like a mother-*****.
All this could have been prevented if he would have cut his engine off. Not sure why he left it running, cool factor, in a hurry, and guess at this point doesn't matter. Morale of story, CUT ENGINE OFF and DON'T OVERFILL TANK to the point its running out on ground.
I've got no sympathy for the dumb ***. He could of got a innocent bystander injured or killed. Maybe he will do us all a favor and stop riding.JMHO
It's too bad his behavior caused him considerable pain, but he is truly a fool. He made several very stupid choices. While he is a fool, I'm not suggesting he "deserved" what happened to him... However.... when someone's stupid choices/actions put other people at risk, I can't feel any sympathy for them.
I'm just glad no innocent bystanders were hurt.....
It's kinda like when in my cage and I see some future organ donor riding wheelies on the freeway at 75 mph, or splitting heavy traffic at 70-80mph... I certainly don't wish them to crash, but when they do, all I would say is, "What the hell did you think was going to happen?!?!" and hope no innocent bystanders get hurt by their stupidity....

I have pulled he lever and had it accidentally Lock open, rare but just maybe this is what happened??? Still Turn OFF Engine - I watched the news story, poor video on my computer... If the new guy said the engine was running, I missed that, all I caught was gas on hot pipes will start a fire???
Quote from NFPA 921 Chapter 25 para 25.3.1
"Autoignition of a liquid in contact with a heated surface generally requires a temperature substantially greater than the published laboratory autoignition temperatures of that liquid. For example, the range of laboratory autoignition temperature for gasoline in 495-536 F. Studies that simulate conditions in motor vehicles have shown that the minimum temperature of a heated surface required to ignite liquid gasoline is several hundred degrees greater than this range".

BTW - God Loves stupid people - that is why he made so many, lol
as stupid as this was, still bad for the rider - He will Pay for the rest of his life (if he lives) for one moment of stupidity
