no welding required ! 1" x16" paddle bit ,done it quite a few times now on 12,13,and now a couple of 15's, clean as can be. beats the snot out of cutting and welding.
I have a 2014 FLHTK with V&H Twin Slash Rounds. I cut the cat out of my headers and to me the sound was too harsh and loud at cruising speeds. I put the quiet baffles in my mufflers and now it has a good deep rumble, not quiet but not loud either. It will bark when you get on it but it's not so loud that riding all day will give you a headache.

This is what I did as well. The beauty of it is my CAT appears to be unmodified so it would never fail a visual inspection. If a time ever came that Oklahoma started doing vehicle inspections or emissions testing mine would pass the visual and a tuner would take care of the sniffer.
I'd be buying the Danmoto SS header for $150 or so on ebay before I ever did another decat. I even hogged mine out. Still sounded a bit off with that hollow box.
1) Good job on the cutout and weld. The way you did it, removing the window, is in my opinion the best way for a couple of reasons....absolutely no cat residue remains behind and secondly, because you didn't cut the header in half like some have, the header maintains it orientation and geometry so reinstall fitment is not a problem.
2) Too bad you hear so well, that bike will run you good-hearing guys crazy as hell with weird sounds. Just get use to it. One day you might get to where you can't hear **** like me.
3)Don't worry about that little bit of exposed wire on the O2 sensor. Wrap some high quality, like 3M, electrical tape around it and forget about it.

If you run a paddle bit up the right pipe that doesn't get the left side pipe cleaned out, so you will still be running with half a cat. If you ever take one apart you will be evident. That's the reason for cutting and welding to remove ALL the material.
