I speak from personal experience, don't buy the cheaper of the Alloy Boltz kits unless you never plan to take them out. I use high quality allen bits and still have stripped out the hex on the cheaper kit.
That's the kind of experienced advice I'm looking for. Thanks.
Did the entire engine 8+ years ago with 12pt. AlloyBoltz. I lost track of how many times the motor has been apart and have never had any problems. I mostly use antisieze.
I put Diamond Engineering bolts on my Dyna years ago and have had no problems so far. Yes, chase the threads in the holes before installation of the bolts. Just remember that you putting stainless bolts into aluminum so you have that dissimilar metals thing going on. For that reason, I would use anti seize before installing them...It won't take much on each bolt and if you are putting it into a wrinkle black engine, be careful as anti seize doesn't wipe off the wrinkle easily. Also, it should be the nickel formula as it stands up to temps of 1600°F.
I used the eBay Alloyboltz knurled socket head kit. Nice kit for the money, after 3 years bolts look new and shiny. I used loctite primer and blue loctite, I have had the side cases off more then a few times, no seized or stripped bolts. Prep the the holes like others said.
But now I am changing over to the 12 point bolts, like the look better. I have been getting my ARP bolts from Speciality Fasteners, they seem to have good prices.
