Default new touring owner - first mods question

Just got my first harley - brand spankin' new SGS. First order of the day - pipes, breather, tuner.

From what I've read here - decided to go with V&H (prob high output or 450 monsters) and FP3. Still looking for AC that I like.

Question - is there really a difference between slip ons and changing head pipes? I'd like to save $500 or so by going with slip ons, but if the difference is too noticeable, might bite the bullet.

Now combing through the forum trying to figure out if biketronics set up or hogtunes best way to go to change those crappy speakers in the fairing.

Thanks!!

1) the stock headpipes have a catalytic converter stuck in em, if you ditch em for an aftermarket set, you'll get a MUCH better flowing and better sounding exhaust.

2) biketronics is definitely superior to Hogtunes. but if youre on a budget, check out http://soundzcustomz.com/ . they've got a lot of different options ranging from fairly cheap to very expensive.

At the very least gut the stock headers but better to buy new headers. Go to fuel moto's site and see what you can save on a package deal. The tuner will be matched to your set up. I would go with PV over the FP3.

Slip on is better than stock but to really bring it alive, you'll need headers.
DO NOT PUT ANY HOGTUNE BS ON YOUR BIKE.
Go with Biketronics, you won't be disappointed. Call Bill at Biketronics up and let him know what your goals are. You can't beat a lifetime warranty and great setup. With my set up, even at 90 MPH, my sound is crystal clear.

So I ended up getting V&H power duals and V&H hi outputs, with power vision and fuel moto's air kit that lets you keep the stock air intake.

it was actually my first project working on a bike - spent Saturday taking everything off and putting on the headers and Sunday getting the rest of the stuff done. Youtube is a gem for those doing it for the first time.

V&H instructions could be better, but manageable.

The only thing I noticed is that where O sensors screw in the head pipes, it smokes like crazy in a minute I ran it, but I assume its the anti-seize burning off???

I started it in the garage, and it sounds nice - deep and loud. As soon as the rain stops - I'll take it out on the road and test it.

Fuel moto guys are a pleasure to deal with.

Now - hoping for a Thanksgiving sale on Biketronics!!!!

Another question - would it makes sense to try and sell the stock headers and slip ons - they have less than 70 miles on them? I am browsing through classifieds here, and it doesn't look like they pop up - there are plenty of used aftermarket ones, but not much for stock.
